I Know That...

Well, here it is, January 6,2006 and the two or three of you (is it really that many?) who read this blog may have noticed that this is the first post of the year - the first post in a long time, for that matter.  There is a reason for this - I just can't think of anything witty or urbane to say.

  My life is rather routine and ordinary, and I can't believe that it would be of any interest to you.  It's barely of interest to me.  Anyway, I was bemoaning that fact to my son, and he advised me to write about things that I know.  So here goes.  I'm not sure if this is what he meant, but I'll try anyway.

THINGS I KNOW

I know that whenever I write, I like to put the words down on paper before I type them on the computer.

I know that I like the feel of a good fountain pen in my hand.

I know that I love being the first one up in the morning when the house is quiet and my world is at peace.

I know that I'm a fifty-something woman with a thirty-something mind set.

I know that I love taking walks on misty, foggy days.

I know that I enjoy watching the antics of squirrels - even when they're on my bird feeders.

I know that I love my children more than anything in the world ( even if they are smarter than I am).

I know that my husband is the only exception to the statement above.(yeah,he's smarter, too)

I know that I love to sit in front of a warm fire, sip some wine, listen to soft jazz, and let the cares of the world melt away.

I know that I respect the Office of President of the United States even if I don't respect the person holding it.

I know that I love it when the doorbell rings and the cats scatter, the dog barks, the parrot squawks, and the turtle...does... nothing...because it means someone is here or a delivery is being made.  Either way, it's a pleasant distraction.

I know that I love to stand in the middle of a clean bathroom with freshly laundered rugs on the floor, soft fluffy towels on the racks, shiny chrome on the faucets and a sparkle on the mirror.

I know that I hate to clean bathrooms.

I know that my life would be empty without pets.

I know that it would be emptier still without my faith.

I know that what I like best about any holiday celebration is family - and food.

I know that I don't understand quantum physics and that it doesn't bother me.

I know that I'm a better cook than my mother was.

I know that my right leg is a teensy bit shorter than my left one - but then the rest of me is short as well, so who cares?

I know that I'm going to stop writing this list because you now know more than enough about me.
